Confirmation at Prince of Peace is an exciting journey of faith for our 7th-9th grade students. This three-year program focuses on preparing our young people to affirm their baptisms in the spring of their ninth grade year. Our pastors, youth coordinator, parents and adult leaders all take part in leading, guiding and walking along side these students as they learn about the Lutheran faith and what it means to live out our baptism and faith in our world today.

Our three year program is organized as follows:
• Year one (7th grade) - the Biblical narrative
• Year two (8th grade) - Luther's Small Catechism
• Year three (9th grade) - Peer Ministry and Digital Disciples

Classes meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm during the school year. During the seasons of Advent and Lent class times change to accommodate Wednesday worship from 6:30-7:00pm. There is also an education opportunity for 7th/8th grade students on Sunday mornings in the youth room at 9:20am (school year only). 9th grade students are encouraged to become involved in helping with Sunday school during that time if they so desire. Students are asked to come to class with the following materials: NIV Student Bible (or NRSV Study Bible), Here We Stand Student Book (7th/8th grade only), Day-By-Day Journal (9 grade only), and a folder/pen or pencil/highlighter. All books can be purchased through Gloria at Prince of Peace.

Students are asked to participate in retreats and week-long camp. Our 7th/8th grade retreat is held in the fall and our 9th grade retreat is held in the spring. These are required! Confirmation camp in June is for our 7th and 8th grade students as is also required. Scholarships are always available to all retreat/camp participants.

In addition to regular class attendance, our confirmation program involves getting students to actively and regularly participate in the worship and service life of our congregation. Regular worship attendance is expected and students also are expected to participate in volunteer projects at church, home, and in the community.

Please refer to our 2011-2012 Confirmation Handbook for a complete summary of all the confirmation program requirements and participation information!
