Faith Formation (3K - 5th Gr) on Sundays

Sunday Mornings · 9:30 am · Fellowship Hall

Hello Faith Formation Students and Families!

If you haven't already done so, please register your children for Faith Formation (grades 3K - 5th grade), which kicked off on Sunday, Sept. 10.

What To Expect on Sunday Mornings:
Faith Formation begins at 9:30 am every Sunday morning in the Fellowship Hall. Each week, we ask that you please find your child’s name tag and check them in at the bulletin board outside the room before your child chooses a carpet square to sit on for Large Group.

Following the Large Group Lesson, we will divide the children into smaller groups for a related activity. After that, we will reconvene for Large Group Music Time with Miss Colleen.

New this year, Faith Formation will conclude EACH WEEK at 10:15 am. At that time, Faith Formation children will line up in the Fellowship Hall and quietly wait in the Narthex with our adult volunteers before joining their families in the Sanctuary following the sermon during the Hymn of the Day for the remainder of the 9:40 am worship service. For the younger ages (Little Lambs - 2nd grade), we ask that you come to the Narthex to get your child. For the older ages (3rd - 5th grade), your child will find you and join you in the Sanctuary.

If your child is absent and would like to do the lesson at home, feel free to reach out to Barbara.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to PoP Youth Ministry Coordinator, Barbara Ekern, at barbara@popappleton.org.

Faith Formation Students Lead Offering & Closing Songs on Sunday, Feb. 25!

We are excited for the kiddos to sing during Offering and help lead the Closing Song during the 9:40 am worship service THIS Sunday, Feb. 25! As they may be a little rusty with having last Sunday off, we ask that you please continue to have them practice singing the songs a bit at home before Sunday.

Click HERE for the PoPKids Praise Song music video of the offering song, "I Will Trust in God" (jump to 2:37 in the video), and click HERE for the lyrics.

Click HERE for the song lyrics and audio recording of the closing song, "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus."

We appreciate you taking the time to have your kiddos practice songs they have come to know and love and we hope are excited to sing for all of us soon! It sure brings our members a lot of joy! Please plan to be there—your kiddos won't want to miss it! πŸŽΆπŸ˜„βœβ€οΈπŸŽΆ

Faith Formation Students Lead Closing Song on Sunday, Jan. 28!

The PoP Faith Formation students have been working hard on a new song! "This Little Light of Mine" is a gospel classic, and the kiddos have really enjoyed singing it. They will lead the congregation on Sunday, Jan. 28, with this closing song during the 9:40am worship service.

Please plan to be there—your kiddos won't want to miss it! πŸŽΆπŸ˜„βœβ€οΈπŸŽΆ

RSVP to Wave Palms During Palm Sunday Worship Services by Wednesday, Jan. 31!

Palm Sunday is on March 24. We are interested in having children walk down the aisles at the start of each Palm Sunday service (8 am and 9:40 am), waving Palms in the air and then laying them at the altar. We are hoping kids could do this at both services. There is no Faith Formation that day, so the kids will be in worship with their family for the entire service.

If your child is interested in participating in this fun tradition, please email Barbara with your child's name(s) and what service they will be attending. Sondra will be ordering Palms soon. Please let Barbara know by THIS Wednesday, January 31. Thanks!

SAVE THE DATE: PoP Roller-Skating Party! | Sunday, Feb. 4 | 2 - 4 pm

Well, it looks like the weather is shaping up to give us a taste of spring this week/weekend instead of lovely, soft snow for sledding! That's Wisconsin weather for ya, right? πŸ˜…

So, instead of taking to the hills this Sunday, join us for an afternoon of FREE roller-skating fun at Skate City in Kimberly!

Meet us at the skating rink, located at 708 S. Railroad St. in Kimberly, for an ALL-CONGREGATIONAL roller-skating party THIS Sunday from 2 - 4 pm! Everyone is welcome—families, Confirmation students, Faith Formation students, couples, individuals, friends—everyone!

We will have tables reserved for skaters (and parent/guardian spectators) to hang out at in between skating. You may rent roller skates or blades (cost covered by church), or feel free to bring your own. Each participating skater will receive ONE FREE DRINK ticket!

Admission is FREE. Skate rentals are FREE. Feel free to bring some cash for any snacks, extra drinks or arcade games you may want to enjoy.

We ask that parents/guardians of children 10 years and younger stay with your child(ren) at the rink.

Please RSVP to Barbara at barbara@popappleton.org with the names of skaters planning to participate by FRIDAY, Feb. 2.

We hope you can join us for some good old-fashioned skating fun and fellowship THIS Sunday from 2 - 4 pm!

"Chickens 4 Children!" Update

The Mission Jamaica 2024 West Haven Team had a goal of raising funds to be able to supply the home with 100 chickens. They are so excited to report that they were able to send a check to Jeff Peterson, their Mission Jamaica coordinator, that reflects 196 chickens raised, of which the Faith Formation children contributed 35 chickens! That’s over a year’s worth of chickens for the West Haven Children's Home!! Incredible! Many thanks from the team, and all of PoP staff, to all our children and adults alike who really stepped up and helped in this effort!

The team of 7 takes off early tomorrow morning for their week of mission work at the West Haven Children's Home, just outside Montego Bay, Jamaica. Please lift them up in prayer during their times of travel and week-long volunteer mission work at the West Haven Children's Home for children with disabilities. Many blessings to them and all they encounter during their time of carrying out their mission in Jamaica!

In case you haven't seen it in the Narthex, the children's offering this spring will be donated to Pillars in May. $1 in donations = 1 puff ball. Watch the jar fill up! Please let Barbara know if you'd like to make your own contribution.
